COMMISSIONERS’S MEETING

August 22, 2005

The meeting of the Broadwater County Commissioners was called to order by chairman James V. Hohn. Present was Commissioner Steven R. McCullough. Commissioner Elaine M. Mann was absent due to family emergency.

Bob Masolo, Road Supervisor, could not attend the meeting.

Dave Clouse, contracted service for Disaster and Emergency, appeared before the Commissioners to discuss radio frequencies. He told the Commissioners that Lewis and Clark County asked if they could use Broadwater County Road Department’s radio frequencies. After a discussion, Commissioner McCullough moved to authorize the usage. Commissioner Hohn seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Ben Knaff, Undersheriff and Richard Thompson, Broadwater County Sheriff, met with the Commissioners to request an additional full time person. During a discussion on personnel situation, it was decided to table the half time Deputy that would be stationed at Three Forks. The Commissioners will take their recommendation and request under advisement.

11:30 a.m. This was the time set for the preliminary budget hearing. Natalie Tomeo, Broadwater County Finance Officer, presented the preliminary budget to the Commissioners. The following is some of the items and decision that were made during the hearing:

Sheldon Bartel of Gateway Economics Development met with the Commissioners to update them on their activities. He asked for advice on what the County needs were. He updated the Commissioners on the loan fund and the business park at Toston.

Commissioner McCullough moved to approve the Commissioner’s minutes dated August 15, 2005. Commissioner Hohn seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner McCullough moved to approve the preliminary budget with changes as discussed. Commissioner Hohn seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner McCullough moved to approve the claims in the amount of 125,268.41. Commissioner Hohn seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:45 p.m., the next Commissioners meeting is scheduled for September 12, 2005 at 10:00 am in the Courthouse.
